His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin Gyana Vajra Rinpoche
His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin Gyana Vajra, the younger son of His Holiness Sakya Trizin was born on the 5th of July 1979 in Dehra Dun, India. First, he studied under the tutorship of Ven. Rinchen Sangpo. Then he joined Sakya Centre, the main monastery and seat of His Holiness Sakya Trizin, and completed his studies at the Sakya College. He has received numerous major empowerments and teachings from His Holiness. Combining ancient wisdom and contemporary knowledge, his unique teaching style is direct, profound, and relevant to our everyday reality, as complex Buddhist concepts are made accessible through examples that all students can easily relate to. Rinpoche chooses to guide his students along the Dharma path as a friend, while his openness and sense of humour bring joy to all who come into his presence.
At present, one of his main activities concerns the Sakya Academy founded by him. The principle aim of the Sakya Academy is of course to impart the young monks and nuns a very good Buddhist and modern education that will help them relate to the outside world and make sure that their Buddhist learning is relevant to it.
In March 2022, His Holiness Gyana Vajra Rinpoche, Ngawang Kunga Rinchen Khyentse Dorje, officially became the 43rd Sakya Trizin.
